Police Chief Recruitment Update: After months of researching, meeting with the public and staff, reading survey responses and comments, and analyzing data, the City of West St. Paul has begun the recruitment process for West St. Paul’s next Police Chief. We want to thank ALL of the community members that gave us their input. Whether through a survey, at the community discussions, or even through a phone call or email, every single comment was heard and taken into consideration. A comprehensive report of all of our findings came in at 137 pages, so you can imagine there has been a lot to digest.
At the conclusion of the research process City Staff created a workplan that sets forth goals and objectives for the new Police Chief in response to public input, staff comments, City Council initiatives, and the current and future needs of the City of West St. Paul. The City trusts there are multiple qualified candidates that can accomplish these goals and objectives by posting the job internally. If it is decided after an internal posting that the right candidate was not found, the City may open the process to include external applicants.
Thank you all for your invaluable input thus far. We're excited to find a leader that can meet the community's vision, refine and get moving on the new workplan and drive the department forward!
