2017 Street Improvement – Project #17-1

The West St. Paul City Council recently awarded the construction work on this year’s Street Improvements Project to Palda & Sons Construction, Inc. out of St. Paul.

It is our intention to keep the neighborhood informed on this project as much as possible. To that end, the City will be creating a weekly update that will be posted here by Friday afternoon each week.

Charlton Street
With the storm sewer work complete, the contractor will be preparing to install the concrete curb & gutter as well as the concrete aprons.  This is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, October 17th.  To accomodate the work, residents will need to have their vehicles out of their driveways and parked on either Mendota Rd. or Charlton St. by 730 AM Tuesday morning.  Once the concrete is poured, residents will not be able to access their driveways for approximately five days while the concrete cures.  After the concrete is poured, residents will be able to park on Charlton St. next to their homes everynight.

The first lift of asphalt is tentatively scheduled for October 28th.

Sherwood Court

The contractor will remain Monday, October 16th to finish pouring the concrete aprons. Once the concrete work is complete, the contractor will begin grading in preparation for the first lift of asphalt.  Residents are asked to park on Mendota Rd. on Tuesday, October 17th during the day to allow the motor grader room to operate.  Residents will be able to park in front of their homes once the work is completed Tuesday. The first lift of asphalt is scheduled for Monday, October 23rd.

Edgewood Lane
The contractor will begin the process of raising manholes and gate valves in preparation for the final lift of asphalt. Due to the narrow width of Edgewood Ln, the City will be enforcing a "No Parking" restriction on Edgewood Ln the week of the 16th. Residents are asked to park in their driveways. The contractor will continue behind-the-curb grading and restoration. The final lift of asphalt is scheduled for October 23rd.
